Sighted Guide Training

I provide in-person sighted guide training courses teaching you how to confidently and safely guide someone with a visual impairment. I work with companies, charities, non-profits and organisations teaching management, staff and volunteers. I also provide in person sighted guide training to friends and family on a private basis. I am based in Hampshire and cover the Southampton, Portsmouth, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, and the wider south coast areas in the UK.
Offering sighted guiding assistance to a person with a visual impairment is a vital part of support, especially in unfamiliar areas and locations. Sighted guiding is a skill everyone can learn and it helps create a more inclusive environment.
My training courses can be tailored to your organisational needs, and will give you the skills, experience and understanding needed as a sighted guide. Attending my workshop provides a valuable opportunity for CPD and an opportunity for your workplace to raise their disability and equality standards.

- common eye conditions
- practical session with simulation specs for people who are partially sighted
- person centred approach
- how to enable independence
- sighted guiding skills training
- practice as a sighted guide
- practice under sleep shade as a person with a visual impairment
